Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 5:38PM Unfortunately these days you need to be a bit more weary when searching the net. Tor is a powerful way to secure your internet connection. Chrome is an awesome browser with powerful extension capabilities. Join these together, and you have an awesome privacy machine. Also, if you live in Australia, there is an impending great privacy violation in regards to the great firewall of Australia. This will probably help you get past it.
1. Get Tor
What is tor? It's is ridiculously hard to explain so I wont. So try Here and Here to get an explanation.
Get your download here.
Install it and use all the default setups. A great guide, again from the Tor website is found here.
2. Get Proxy Switchy! Extension for Google Chrome.
Proxy Switchy is an excellent extension for Google Chrome which lets you seamlessly manage your proxies. Due to the nature of proxies, Tor connections are generally slower than your direct connection, so you don't want to be jumping through hoops every time you want your information to be private.
If you used the standard Tor setup, your proxy details are as follows:
HTTP Proxy: localhost
Port: 8118
Click on Proxy Switchy options and fill in as following.
All done.
3.Get your privacy on!
Now every time you want your privacy kept, click on the Switchy Proxy setting and select Tor.

Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 7:34AM On 5th April 2010 10:44 EST WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad -- including two Reuters news staff.
Reuters has been trying to obtain the video through the Freedom of Information Act, without success since the time of the attack. The video, shot from an Apache helicopter gun-site, clearly shows the unprovoked slaying of a wounded Reuters employee and his rescuers. Two young children involved in the rescue were also seriously wounded.
Even with incredible news such as this, the Australian news websites have more important matters (read Tiger Woods).
Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 8:00PM The irony of the title is not lost on me. The Australian Human Rights Commission are threatening legal action against Encyclopaedia Dramatica about an article about Aborigines. The article itself is completely racist, offensive filth, passed off as satire, but end of the day its just plain old ignorant. The irony now that more people will want to see the website and read what all the fuss is about is not lost on me.
Freedom of speech is a right we as humans have. Even though Australia has no actual law protecting it, its implied. Even if the speech is racist and offensive as this article is, it must be allowed as once you start censoring some speech, you are on a incredibly slippery slope in censoring other speech.
The article is racist, there is no doubt about that. But a quick search through ED reveals incredibly racist articles about ALL races. By the AHRC saying that this specific article is deemed racist and should be removed, they are at the same time saying, all the articles are not. You either censor all the articles (this is the slippery slope I was talking about) or you censor none.
The fact that the it’s the AHRC who are leading the charge in this lawsuit makes them lose ALL credibility as a human rights organisation, and further destroys Australia’s reputation as a free and democratic country throughout the world.

You know, just like all the ones which caused the meltdown of '08 is getting pushed by some evironmentalists as a savior of the planet. Another subset of people who are pushing it are devious traders and conmen, because simply, they know how much money can be made from this bogus idea.
